User Administration
An important feature is to be able to manage permissions and users across the orginization. Engrafo allows use of Active Directory(AD) to manage and create users or it can also be done Manually. However, we recommend using AD to manage and control all users simultaneously in the solution.
On this page of the Engrafo Guide you can find information about:
User Groups and Permissions
There are a 5 total roles that can be assign to a user in Engrafo. The following list contains these along side their individual permissions
User Group | Permissions |
---|---|
Read | Users in this group can view the Data Catalog and Data Usage documentations |
Write | Users in this group can edit and create in the Data Catalog and under Data Usage documentations |
Portal | Users in this group can view the portal that holds information on documentation |
Config | Users in this group can manage and create new templates, manage user groups, upload and run SQL-scripts, etc. (see: Configuration for a complete guide) |
Admin | Users in this group can create Data Catalogs, upload metadata, administrate Data Catalogs and Data Usage documentations, create sample spaces, manage license and edit the frontpage (see: Administration for a complete guide) |
Roles for AD Groups
Engrafo can easily assign roles to induvidual AD Groups. Simply navigate to “Roles for AD Groups” and click create. From here just type in the chosen group and assign the role you desire.
User Overview
If you navigate to: “User Overview” you will be able to see and manage existing individual users. This is also where you can create new induvial users. To do this, just click “Create a new user”, add username and password and lastly create the new user.
Roles for Users
You can also assign privileges explicit to users (not using AD) however, we do not recommended this over using AD.
To do this, first navigate to the section “Roles for Users”. Here you can either edit existing users and respective roles or assign new roles to a given user. Simply click “Create new” assign a role, type username and finally confirm.
Roles for Everyone
You can also assign roles to everyone in the solution simultaneously. Just navigate to the section “Roles for Everyone”, click “Create new” and choose the desired role. This is especially useful if you wish for everyone to have read or write privileges for instance.
