Manually Editing Data Catalog Structures

Manually Editing Data Catalog Structures

It is possible to manually create a data catalog, but we do recommend that you use the Engrafo metadata loader API (see Loading Metadata and Documentations) or by using a connection string to MS SQL.

You can do this by navigating to: Metadata Structure → Data Catalog. From here simply find the item you would like to browse.

Browsing and managing can be done like this. If you face that an item cannot be deleted, the reason is that the item is used in a data usage documentation. If data is referenced in a documentation, data cannot be deleted. You have to remove the references from the data usage documentation before deletion.

If you wish to create data catalogs entries manually, click “Create new” for the item you want to create(e.g. a Table or Column) On the right a sample is shown for creating a new table in the selected database “WideWorldImporters” and schema “Sales”. Here you also have the option to hide the created table, meaning that it wont actually be visible in the Data Catalog.
